Cinderella’s Lily James on Disney princesses, Cate Blanchett, and living the fairytale

Lily james, Cinderella, disney, photoLily James brings the timeless tale of Cinderella to life in Cineplex theatres across Canada today!  The live-action adaptation is a feast for the eyes as director Kenneth Branagh transports the animated Disney story we all know and love into a real-life candy-coloured world with Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, andRichard Madden.

You know the story of the orphaned Cinderella who is forced to wait hand-and-foot on her evil stepmother Lady Tremaine (Blanchett) and stepsisters, whose Fairy Godmother (Bonham Carter) calls upon her when she needs her the most, giving her the chance of a lifetime to meet a handsome prince (Madden) – glass slipper and all.  But this Cinderella is no damsel in distress.  With a kind and gentle heart, Cinderella teaches us lessons of compassion.

And who better to play Cinderella than the lovely Lily James?  We sat down with the “Downton Abbey” star to talk about becoming a real-life Disney princess,  working with the famous faces in front of and behind the camera, and which Disney role she’s love to tackle next.
